Dark numbers in your office area !

Do you have dark figures from your sickness rate - when we talk about office?

When I talk to my network and look at our own organization, we always have very low numbers of accidents / incident and sick leave. Of course it is a less hazardous working environment, but stress and ergonomic issues are often more common in these environments.

Many office people has the option to choose flexible working hours - to take long or short days - to work from home or take a day off with a very short notice. Without being able to prove it, I think that these conditions can hide both sick days related to colds, stomach problems or other minor illnesses.

But what I fear is that other problems also can hide under these low numbers. Stress absence - or if people just need a break from the daily workload / work pressure in the workplace. We know that this kind of absence exists between Blue colors on the shop floor, but almost does not exist between White colors in offices. Could it be that this absence is stucked away in the flexible working hours or homework?

How do you see this in your workplace / your responsibility area?
