Danish LM employee Edith Viola Madsen is already
training for the next challenge – the big Little Belt Half marathon in May, with
around 11,000 participants. It’s one of the biggest half-marathon events in
Denmark and LM is usually well represented at the race.
Edith is up for it. Not long ago, she finished another half marathon as the oldest participant in the race at 66. That earned her a spot in the local newspaper.
Edith is a great example of a very active LM employee who continues to be a role model for her colleagues even after more than 35 years of working at LM.
Manager, Human Resources, Aksel Riewe Henriksen, said: “Edith is a prime example of the fact that you can have a very long career working in LM’s production when you take care of your health. She is an extremely flexible and well regarded colleague who’s always first in line to volunteer for new tasks or take an assignment abroad. Most recently she went to Goleniów to work with our Polish colleagues, and she quickly earned their great respect due to the quality and pace of her grinding work.”
When asking Edith herself how she keeps up the high energy level, she said: “I can’t help it! I guess I’ve become slightly addicted to exercising. I simply feel good when I do it.”
Edith was originally trained in making and selling food, but she changed to cleaning after having kids and later on joined LM as an operator. She still enjoys the work and the craftsmanship it requires, even after more than three decades. “But the best part is the good relationship and friendship with the colleagues,” she concluded.
